Baltimore MD | Completed
Rounding out a new community hub, A2 is across the street from the high-end Anthem House, the comprehensive redevelopment of a former GE site by the same team.
This five-story building activates the site of a former restaurant and parking lot. The building engages and improves the walkability of Lawrence Street and weaves together the pedestrian experience between Federal Hill and the Locust Point waterfront.
A new bicycle lane connection and landscaped setbacks—25 feet facing the alley on Boyle Street and nine feet at Lawrence Street—increase safety and neighborhood connectivity.
The 52 “affordable by design” apartments offer compact, comfortable homes over a neighborhood juice shop and café in the popular neighborhood.
A rooftop deck references the Baltimore rowhouse terrace typology and provides a sheltered outdoor space with harbor views for all residents.
When A2 won an AIA Maryland Design Citation, the jury noted: “A2 Apartments provides affordable housing at an elevated design level.”
