Introducing DBA’s Newest Leaders
A believer in community-driven design, Cameron Acheson, AIA, is dedicated to creating, preserving, and stabilizing local communities. As a licensed architect and graduate of Auburn University, Cameron has over a decade of experience designing affordable housing, including more than 135 affordable buildings throughout Chicago, Detroit, and Norfolk, Virginia. A key member of our Birmingham studio since 2022, Cameron is currently guiding the design process for Riverchase Apartments—a 140-home affordable community in Nashville—and working closely with the Washington DC Housing Authority on a series of strategic feasibility studies and the development of DCHA’s Affordable Family Housing Guidelines.
“Cameron has been integral to our Birmingham studio and our larger firm since Day One. Her deep experience in affordable housing—coupled with her scrappy, curious, ‘get-it-done’ stance drawn from her time at Rural Studio—make her a potent, organized, diplomatic, and joyful collaborator.” —Amanda Loper, AIA, Principal
Joining our Oakland office, David Friedlaender, AIA, believes that the best projects can resonate within individual and collective memories, helping to frame a sense of place and well-being. A Bay Area native, David has worked extensively throughout California and New Mexico. Between earning a Fine Arts degree from UC Berkeley and a Master of Architecture from the University of New Mexico, David gained experience in residential and light commercial construction, which informs his specialty of Construction Administration. David is currently managing the construction process for Hunters View Phase 3 Housing and Sunnydale HOPE SF Housing—two new developments bringing nearly 300 affordable homes to southeastern San Francisco.
“We are truly lucky to have David on board, adding strength, care, and depth to our Construction Administration bench. He brings decades of technical expertise, a no-nonsense approach, and a real respect for creating the community-oriented projects we build.” —Daniel Simons, FAIA, Principal
