At the south edge of the city, Sunnydale HOPE SF is one of San Francisco’s biggest redevelopment projects, replacing WWII-era public housing with more than 1,770 new affordable and market-rate homes; new streets and infrastructure; 3.5 acres of new green space; and extensive retail and community uses.

Just across a new shared pedestrian way from the Community Center, Amani and Nia—two affordable residential buildings—will provide 170 new homes atop extensive services and resources open to the larger community, including a grocer, food hall, early-child-education center, and wellness center run by the Department of Public Health. Architects from David Baker Architects will lead a hard-hat tour of this community-focused housing, which is currently under construction and on track for completion in early 2025.

Treasure Island Tour: First District and New Waterfront Cityside Park

Time: 9:00am-12:00pm

A transformation is underway at Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay, bringing to life a vibrant, sustainable, and connected waterfront community via a comprehensive plan to reclaim the former Naval Station. When completed, the reimagined neighborhood will feature 8,000 new homes; 300 acres of new parks, trails, and open space (the most significant addition to SF parks since Golden Gate Park); and a vibrant mix of community and cultural uses with stunning views of downtown San Francisco, Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Marin Headlands, and the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges.

This tour—by ferry, foot, and shuttle—will engage some of the island’s first new residences and the emerging parks and landscape.

Developed by Wilson Meany, Isle House is the first tower and tallest building on the Island. Highly visible from the Bay Bridge, the building sets a welcoming tone for residents and visitors. Pedram Farashbandi, Principal at David Baker Architects and Isle House’s primary architect, will lead this portion of the tour of the new 250-home community, from the building’s pedestrian-oriented active edges to the hospitality-style lobby to the seventh-level amenity deck—and its sweeping 360-degree views—and up to one of the top levels.
