Sunnyvale CA | Completed
2001
Stoney Pine provides 23 affordable homes and support for independent living for developmentally disabled individuals in Sunnyvale.
The community is made up of three two-story residential buildings surrounding a shared interior courtyard and interconnected via a covered arcade.
The flexible community room opens onto the courtyard by means of a great door to allow the room to expand for large gatherings. The door also transforms into a large movie screen for management to screen films for residents.
The apartment configurations—one- and two-bedroom units— were carefully planned based on direct input from the developmentally disabled community. Amenities include ceiling light fixtures, refrigerators, microwaves, gas ranges, and gas-fired electric-ignition wall heaters.
